Just up the road from the beautiful town of Wiscasset, Maine sits a hidden treasure. The Wiscasset Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum. Come along with Black 5 Video as we take a ride on the 2-foot gauge behind WW&F No. 10 from Sheepscot Station to Alna Center and back. We took our HDTV camera out for a day of filming on Father's Day weekend 2007 to give you a taste of what is like to spend the day on one of Maine's fabled 2-foot gauge railroads.

You'll ride along in the cab of WW&F number 10, Wiscasset & Quebec coach number 3 and WW&F open coach number 103.

The enthusiasm of the all volunteer crew comes out in this half hour of fun from Black 5 Video.

The WW& F operates from 9AM-5PM on Saturdays year round, and Sundays between Memorial Day Weekend and Columbus Day Weekend.

Sandy River and Rangely Lakes

Today's Sandy River and Rangely Lakes Railroad dates back to 1970, when Wesley Spear bought a tract of land that contained a 3/4 mile stretch of the original right of way of the Phillips and Rangely Railroad. Later that stretch became part of the Sandy River and Rangely Lakes Railroad.

We captured the railroad while operating ex-Monson Railroad forney number 3 on weekend excursions during the 2007 tourist season.

You'll see passenger and freight, a gandy dancer gang and a track inspection crew using a rebuilt "Ford" Fairmont motorcar. What this railroad lacks in miles, it makes up for in character.

The Maine Narrow Gauge RR Co. was created in 1993 to bring the Maine narrow gauge equipment back to Maine after fifty years of exile at the Edaville Railroad park in Carver, MA. Since then the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum have taken on the task of preserving Maine's narrow gauge railroad history using original equipment from the various 2-foot gauge lines in Maine on a two mile stretch of former standard gauge track along the shores of Casco Bay in Portland.

Black 5 Video gives you a taste of what it is like to spend a day on the waterfront with the MNGRR. You'll take a guided tour of the museum, get a lesson in hand signals, enjoy a ride behind diesel number 1 and take a night time cab ride in ex-Monson Railroad 0-4-4T Number 4 during the National Narrow Gauge Convention.

Conway Railroad

On January 5, 2008, The Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts chartered a steam excursion on Conway Scenic Railroad to run between North Conway and the Sawyer River bridge, six miles up the track from Bartlett, NH. Over two feet of snow was on the ground as Black 5 Video captured ex-Canadian National 0-6-0 7470 and her train as she covered the thirty mile roundtrip journey to the "Third Iron" and back, making the scene look like a picture post card.
